The new San Francisco office for AEI is not short on big impact design. As consulting engineers (MEP, Fire, Life Safety), the client was integrally involved in the design and delivery of the project. QA strategically intervened in an existing office fit-out focusing design and budget on the community and amenity areas. Our designers worked alongside AEI’s lighting team to develop custom and affordable fixtures using standard piping components. We facilitated a design process where all disciplines collaborated to design a custom divider behind reception. This screen showcased all the piping, cable trays and conduit that goes into a coordinated ceiling design, highlighting the communal spaces, and paying homage to their craft. Pops of color influenced by AEI’s brand colors give life to the concrete shell and draw users in to gather and collaborate. 

We are proud to announce that AEI San Francisco is the winner of an IIDA Honor Award (Northern California) in the Craft Category for the collaborative execution of the sculptural screen behind the reception desk. The judges had to say the following:

"I love this slightly bonkers wall feature. It’s mad and incredibly coordinated. Super interesting. The beauty is that it connects immediately with the brand. A recognition that there is artistry and craft in each project, but it is celebrated here in a really artful way."
